Fly into Montego Bay or Kingston based first on your final address, then compare the flight and the full ground cost. Sangster International Airport is usually the shorter road option for Montego Bay, Negril and western Jamaica, while Norman Manley International Airport usually suits Kingston, Port Antonio and much of the southeast. Ocho Rios can work from either airport, and Ian Fleming International Airport may reduce the road transfer when its limited flight schedule fits your dates. Road transfers range from about 20 minutes within Kingston or Montego Bay to about five hours across the island, with prices set by the taxi, coach, rental or private-transfer operator in Jamaican dollars or another stated currency.

Before comparing airports, write down the hotel, villa, house or street address. A parish name alone may not give you the right airport choice because two properties in the same parish can sit on different roads.

Which airport is closer to your destination?

These are road estimates rather than fixed travel times. Traffic, weather, road conditions, stops and the exact address can change them.

The Jamaica Tourist Board gives Montego Bay to Negril as about 83 km and less than 1.5 hours. It gives Montego Bay to Ocho Rios as about 100 km and less than two hours, and Ocho Rios to Kingston as about 97 km and less than 1.5 hours. What Sangster International Airport gives you

MBJ Airports Limited currently lists airlines including Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Avelo Airlines, Bahamasair, Caribbean Airlines, Cayman Airways, Condor, Copa Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Edelweiss, Eurowings Discover, Frontier, JetBlue, LATAM, LIAT, Neos, Southwest, Sun Country, Sunwing, TUI Airways, TUI fly Netherlands, United, Virgin Atlantic, WestJet, Wingo and World2Fly. The published route examples include United flights from Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark and Washington. American Airlines serves cities including Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, New York and Philadelphia. Delta lists Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis and New York. After Customs, MBJ identifies an authorised airport taxi desk just outside the Customs exit. The two listed taxi companies are JUTA Taxi and JCAL Taxi. MBJ lists car-rental companies in and around the Ground Transportation Arrivals Hall. Hotel shuttles, taxis, car rentals and intra-island airlines are also located in or around that area. You can arrange a private transfer or charter directly with an operator before arrival, or arrange a rental car with a rental company.

What Norman Manley International Airport gives you

Norman Manley International Airport, known as KIN, is usually the shorter road option for Kingston, Port Antonio and much of southeastern Jamaica.

The Airports Authority of Jamaica describes KIN as having bus, taxi and car-rental transportation. You can arrange a private transfer or rental car directly with an operator or rental company. A coach or bus may begin at a city or intercity terminal instead of taking you directly to a hotel, so ask for the exact starting point, operating days, luggage rules and onward connection before paying.

The airport operator directs passengers to its flight-information page for current schedules. Airline routes and frequencies change by season and travel date. Jamaica Information Service reported in July 2025 that American Airlines planned to increase Kingston to Miami service to four daily flights from December 18, 2025. The report also referred to routes involving New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago.

KIN is often practical for a Kingston address because central Kingston is about 20 to 30 minutes away by road. It can also suit Port Antonio, where the estimated road distance is about 109 km and the trip is under 2.5 hours depending on the address and conditions. Ian Fleming International Airport near Ocho Rios

Ian Fleming International Airport, airport code OCJ, is in Boscobel, St. Mary, about 15 km from Ocho Rios. It can reduce the road transfer for Ocho Rios, Boscobel, Oracabessa and parts of St. Mary and Portland.

The airport operator describes taxi or coach services as available for ground transportation. Customs and immigration operate daily from 0700 to 1900, with advance notice required outside those hours.

American Airlines launched scheduled Miami to Ian Fleming service on February 24, 2024. The Airports Authority of Jamaica announced twice-weekly service using an Embraer 175. Jamaica Information Service reported in July 2025 that American Airlines planned to increase the Miami service to two daily flights for the winter season beginning December 18, 2025.

OCJ has a much smaller scheduled network than MBJ or KIN. Check the Ian Fleming International Airport flight information for your date and compare the full connection, baggage cost and road transfer. A short drive from OCJ may not reduce the total price if the flight requires an expensive connection or does not fit your arrival time.

For Ocho Rios, compare OCJ with both major international airports. The Jamaica Tourist Board estimates the road from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios at about 100 km and less than two hours. Taxis, transfers, coaches, buses and rental cars

A taxi from the airport is useful when you want to arrange transport after landing. At MBJ, the taxi desk is just outside the Customs exit, and JUTA Taxi and JCAL Taxi are the listed companies. Ask for the total price to your exact address and whether the quote is per vehicle or per passenger.

A private transfer is arranged with an operator before arrival and normally takes you from the airport to the stated address. Ask whether the price includes waiting time for a delayed or early flight, hotel drop-off, tolls, parking, extra luggage and stops.

A charter can suit a family, group or person making several stops. Set out the route, number of passengers, luggage, waiting time and return details before accepting the price.

A coach or bus may cost less per passenger, but it may use a terminal and require another taxi or route connection. Ask where you board, where you get off, how much luggage is included, which days the service runs and what transport covers the final part.

As of October 15, 2026, Jamaica’s official tourism information states that Sangster International Airport, Norman Manley International Airport, Ian Fleming International Airport and the domestic airports are operational and open for commercial flights after Hurricane Melissa. MBJ resumed limited commercial operations on November 1, 2025, after its temporary closure on October 26, 2025.
