From Norman Manley International Airport to Ocho Rios, you can arrange a private transfer, take an airport taxi, travel from New Kingston by coach, use JUTC and other public transport in stages, or rent a car. The road distance is about 96 to 104 km, and driving time is roughly 1 hour 34 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes in normal conditions. Published prices range from J$550 for a JUTC adult cash fare to US$220 and US$300 one way for a private vehicle carrying 1 to 4 people, depending on the operator.
Your first choice is between door-to-door transport and a lower-cost public connection from Kingston. A private transfer can take you from the airport to your exact hotel, resort, villa or street address. Knutsford Express and JUTC require a separate trip from the airport to a Kingston departure point, followed by onward transport and possibly a local taxi in Ocho Rios.
Private transfers from Norman Manley International Airport
A pre-booked private transfer is the simplest arrangement when you have luggage, children, a group or a specific hotel outside central Ocho Rios. You arrange the service directly with the operator and provide your flight details, passenger count and final address.

Published examples include Jamaica Get Away Travels, Jamaica One Love Tours, Karandas Tours and other private operators. Vehicles can range from cars and smaller vans to buses and coaches. Ask for the exact vehicle assigned to your booking, especially when several people are travelling with suitcases.
Jamaica Get Away Travels publishes US$300 one way for 1 to 4 people, or US$600 return. Each additional person is listed at US$50 one way or US$100 return. The operator states that its quoted prices cover 1 to 10 people and that larger groups receive a separate quote. Its page also requests the airline, flight number and arrival time, offers one-way and round-trip selections, and lists vehicle sizes. It states a transfer time of 1 hour 40 minutes.
Jamaica One Love Tours publishes US$220 one way for 1 to 4 people, plus US$55 for each additional person. The operator states that a 50% deposit is required, the balance is paid directly to the driver and gratuity is excluded.
These are separate operator prices, not a single standard Kingston to Ocho Rios fare. The price may also depend on the exact address, vehicle size, waiting time, tolls, stops and whether you need a return service.
When arranging pickup, provide:
- Your flight number, arrival date and scheduled arrival time
- The number of passengers
- The number, size and type of bags
- Your exact hotel, resort, villa or street address
- Whether the price is per vehicle or per passenger
- Whether you need one-way or return transport
- The airport meeting point and greeter’s name or telephone number
- The deposit, balance, payment method and cancellation terms
- Whether tolls, luggage, stops, refreshments, parking and gratuity are included
- The final drop-off point and any surcharge outside Ocho Rios
- The waiting arrangement if your flight arrives late
For families, ask whether child seats are available, what age or size they suit and whether they are included in the price. For a wheelchair or mobility scooter, ask whether the vehicle has a ramp, lift, low step or enough space to carry the equipment.
Airport taxi from Norman Manley International Airport
Norman Manley International Airport lists taxis among its ground-transport categories, along with buses and car rentals. Airport taxi-concession rules identify the Jamaica Union of Travellers Association, commonly known as JUTA, as the airport taxi concessionaire. You can use the airport taxi desk or designated airport taxi service and request the total fare before leaving the airport. If you land hungry, here is where to eat near Kingston’s Norman Manley Airport.
Ask for the fare to your exact Ocho Rios address, not only the town name. Also ask whether the price is per vehicle, whether tolls and luggage are included, how long the driver will wait during airport processing and whether there is a charge for a resort or address outside Ocho Rios.
The airport authority’s information for Norman Manley International Airport identifies the available ground-transport categories. The Jamaica Fair Trading Commission decision on the airport taxi concession identifies JUTA in connection with the airport concession.
An airport taxi can suit you when you want to arrange transport after landing, but a private transfer arranged in advance may make it easier to match the vehicle to your luggage, group size and hotel entrance.
Knutsford Express from New Kingston
Knutsford Express travel to Ocho Rios starts from the company’s Kingston passenger location in New Kingston. The terminal is at 18 Dominica Drive, New Kingston, in the New Kingston Shopping Center parking lot. The company lists Kingston passenger-service hours as 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily on its locations and opening-hours page.

From Norman Manley International Airport, arrange an airport taxi, a pre-booked car or a rental car to reach New Kingston. Allow time for the airport-to-terminal connection, boarding and any luggage handling before the coach leaves.
Knutsford Express provides intercity coach service from Kingston to Ocho Rios. A Jamaica Observer report dated 12 October 2025 gave a Kingston to Ocho Rios fare of J$2,950. Treat this as a dated published-news figure and confirm the current fare directly with Knutsford Express when booking.
Ask for the current departure time, seat availability, arrival stop and luggage arrangements. You will also need to arrange transport from the Ocho Rios stop to your hotel if the stop is not close to your accommodation.
The coach can work well for a resident travelling with manageable luggage and a flexible arrival plan. A direct transfer may suit you more closely when you are arriving on a flight, travelling with children or staying outside central Ocho Rios.
JUTC route 610 between City and Ocho Rios
JUTC route 610 connects City and Ocho Rios. The published regular-route notice gives these departure times:
- Ocho Rios to City: 6:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.
- City to Ocho Rios: 8:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The adult fare is J$550 in cash or J$500 with an adult SmartFare card. The concession fare is J$250. These fares are effective from 17 December 2025. The notice identifies weekday toll-road operation.
From Norman Manley International Airport, first arrange transport to the relevant Kingston bus stop or terminal. Confirm the Kingston stop with JUTC before leaving the airport, then allow time to reach it. After arriving in Ocho Rios, you may need a local taxi or route taxi to reach your accommodation.
The JUTC route notice gives the route, fares and times. The JUTC timetable page is another useful place to check the service before travelling.
JUTC is the lowest published passenger fare among the options listed here, but it is a public bus rather than an airport-to-hotel service. It may fit a local resident travelling light and able to work around the scheduled departures.
For local connections after arrival, see Getting Around Ocho Rios, Jamaica: Taxis, Route Taxis and Walking. If you are starting from the airport and need to reach Kingston first, Kingston Airport to New Kingston, Jamaica: Taxis, Buses and Fares explains that first section.
Route taxis in stages
Route taxis can form part of a lower-cost public transport plan, but they do not provide one single airport-to-hotel service. A staged trip may involve travelling from the airport to downtown Kingston or Half Way Tree, then continuing through Spanish Town, Linstead, St Ann’s Bay and Ocho Rios.
The published July 2026 route-taxi rate structure lists a J$132 base fare plus J$8.64 per kilometre. The exact fare depends on the licensed route and distance. A trip made in several stages requires several fares.
At each stage, ask the driver whether the taxi is going to your intended destination and what the fare is before boarding. You may need to change vehicles, carry your luggage between stops and arrange a final taxi to your accommodation.
The route passes through the Kingston and St Catherine areas before reaching St Ann. You can review transport operators in Kingston parish, St. Catherine parish and St. Ann parish when arranging local connections.
For a fuller explanation of route taxis, see Route Taxis in Jamaica: How They Work and How to Use Them.
Hiring a car and using the North-South Highway
A rental car gives you control over departure time, stops and the final address. Rental companies set their own rates, deposits, insurance terms, rental periods and additional-driver conditions. Fuel, tolls and parking are separate unless the rental agreement includes them. For a meal stop on the way, see Faith’s Pen, the roadside food stop between Kingston and Ocho Rios.

You can rent at or near Norman Manley International Airport, then drive towards Caymanas and join the North-South Highway toward Ocho Rios. The Toll Authority lists the Caymanas to Ocho Rios section, ending at Mammee Bay, as 66.14 km. This is only the toll-road section. The full airport-to-hotel distance is longer because Norman Manley International Airport is south of central Kingston and the highway begins inland at Caymanas.
The Toll Authority lists these North-South Highway rates on its table dated August 3, 2026:
The NROCC schedule effective August 28, 2026 lists lower figures for the same route, J$1,900 for Class 1, so carry enough for the higher amount.
The listed highway speed limit is 80 km/h. The toll applies to the toll-road section, not the complete trip from the airport to your hotel. See Jamaica Highway Tolls: Highway 2000 and North-South Highway Rates for more detail.
Before collecting a rental car, ask about the deposit, insurance excess, fuel policy, additional drivers, child seats, roadside assistance, toll payment and the exact return conditions. If you are visiting Jamaica, Driving in Jamaica as a Visitor: Licences, Roads and Rules covers the practical requirements.
Distance and travel time
The practical road-distance estimate from Norman Manley International Airport to Ocho Rios is about 96 to 104 km. The final number depends on your hotel, resort, villa or other address and the route used.
Published estimates place driving time at about 1 hour 34 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes in normal conditions. This is an estimate, not a timetable. Airport processing, Kingston traffic, weather, road works and the final local roads can make the drive longer.
The Toll Authority’s North-South Highway information gives the 66.14 km toll-road distance from Caymanas to Ocho Rios at Mammee Bay. The airport-to-Ocho Rios road distance also includes the route from the airport to Caymanas and the roads after leaving the highway.
Hurricane Melissa and current transport status
Norman Manley International Airport closed at 8:00 p.m. on 25 October 2025 before Hurricane Melissa. The Office of the Prime Minister later stated that all Jamaican airports reopened within 48 hours. The Jamaica Tourist Board’s current travel-alert page states that full operations have been restored at Norman Manley International Airport, Sangster International Airport and Ian Fleming International Airport near Ocho Rios.
The government reported major damage to roads and public infrastructure. On 6 November 2025, the Jamaica Information Service reported restored access along key transportation corridors, including the corridor connecting Ocho Rios to Port Antonio. The National Works Agency has also published post-hurricane road-status updates covering affected roads and repair work.
The JUTC route 610 service was converted from an express service to a regular route, tentatively effective 17 December 2025, with the fares and times listed above. For your travel date, check the airport, road and transport-service status with the relevant provider.
Choosing the right option for your trip
A private transfer is suited to a hotel pickup, late flight arrival, children, several bags, a large group or a villa outside the town centre. You pay for a vehicle-based service and can give the operator a precise drop-off address.

An airport taxi gives you an arrangement at the airport. Request the complete fare before leaving and ask about tolls, luggage, waiting and the final address.
Knutsford Express provides an intercity coach from New Kingston. You must first travel from the airport to 18 Dominica Drive and then arrange the final connection from Ocho Rios.
JUTC route 610 has the lowest listed adult fare, but you must reach the Kingston bus network first and travel according to the published schedule. Route taxis can reduce the passenger cost in stages, but they require multiple changes and separate fares.
A rental car gives you control over the departure time and stops. It also puts the rental agreement, fuel, tolls, parking and driving arrangements in your hands.
